Principal Michelle Cort released a statement addressing Island Coast High School families about a shooting threat on Friday.

According to the statement, a student found a note scrawled in a bathroom stall that read, "Shooting up Island Coast Nov. 12, 2018."

Cort assured that an investigation is currently ongoing, and extra security will be in place at the high school.

Principal Michelle Cort statement:

"Administration and the SRO immediately began an investigation, interviewing students and pulling surveillance video. We believe there is no credibility to this threat, but in order to ease   concerns, extra security will be in place at ICHS on Monday.

Parents, please share with your students that pranks like this are not tolerated at ICHS. They can have serious legal and educational consequences. At the very least, they cause unnecessary disruption to the learning environment and consume staff resources.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call a member of our administrative team.

Thank you."
