CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- An intoxicated woman was critically injured Sunday night when police say she was hit by a car as she tried to cross the street.
It happened around 10 p.m. Sunday on SE 47th Terrace between 8th Court and 9th Place.
According to Cape Coral Police, 26-year-old Jessica Ramirez was crossing 47th Terrace in a northerly direction when she was hit by an eastbound car.
Investigators say Ramirez's body was thrown 57 feet in the air, landing in the parking lane of the eastbound side.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene but was not injured.
Ramirez suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash and was taken to a local hospital, where she was listed in critical but stable condition. She was found to have a BAC level of .241 at the time of the crash.
No charges have been filed.
