Though operational for several months, the new Green Meadows water treatment plant had its grand opening Monday.
The 74 million dollar plant off Airport Haul Road could crank out 12 to 14 million gallons of water per day. It replaces an older facility built in the early 70's.
The plant draws water from three different sources from different depths under the earth.
Water is tested to make sure it is properly treated before leaving the plant and entering the distribution system.
Green Meadows services consumers in the southern part of Lee County.
