PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — The Gofundme page started last Saturday in honor of Khyler Edman, the teen who was killed in his home on Thursday evening has already raised over $60,000. Your donations are being spent to support the family of a Charlotte County teenager.
Fox 4 spoke to a young man who says he was very close to Khyler, he says he rushed over to the house the night he was killed and was holding out for a miracle. “I was sad, I was outside for about two or three hours waiting for Khyler to come out of his house, perfectly fine, but he never came out,” said Jarret Saks.
He remembers the times they used to share together. “If I needed someone to talk to, I’d always talk to him. We’d always talk about everything.”
People are also talking about Khyler’s impact, and hundreds of people have posted kind and comforting words.
“Khyler was so big-hearted, goal-oriented. He’s in ROTC, wanted to go to the Navy, advanced classes with A’s, loved his sister, his family. Grew up with him an the kid didn’t have a mean bone in his body,” said Heather Anderson.
All monetary donations will go toward the burial and ensuring Khyler’s mother and sister will never have to live in the home where the tragic incident occurred Thursday night.
This family is inviting everyone out to a celebration of life for him at Harbor Heights Park this Saturday from 11 am-2 pm and organizers say people will be able to donate there as well.
People can also head to Khyler's online obituary and pay tribute or send flowers.
