FT. MYERS, Fla — A Dunbar woman who tragically lost both her children less than a year a part, is getting some help from the city if Ft. Myers.

City Council approved a measure moving the grave of Tosha Thomas-Mora’s son from Ft. Myers Cemetery to Calvary Gardens, next to her daughter’s grave.
“It's kind of difficult going to both sides and spending time at both grave sites."

In December of 2017, Thomas-Mora’s son Samuel Jones Jr. was shot and killed in a double homicide in Lehigh Acres.
A suspect has not been arrested.

“It makes me angry that someone did not care about life to think twice before taking my son's life.”

7 months later her daughter TeNiya, a sophomore at the University of Kentucky, drowned while on a trip to Israel with some friends.
She would have turned 20 on February 12.

“She truly made the most of her 19 years, she was the adventurous type, she wanted to see the world."

Tosha says as part of the healing process she's starting a foundation named after her daughter, focused on keeping children in the Dunbar community out of trouble and on the right path to success.

She wants kids growing up to have the same success her kids had.

"A lot of the teachers remember both Sam for his infectious smile and ‘Niya for being so eager.” “They were both popular kids, I miss them and I love them."

Councilman Kevin Anderson says money to pay for the grave's relocation is coming out of money allotted for small scale projects in the Neighborhood Improvement Program.
