CAPE CORAL, Fla. --- The Florida Department of Law Enforcement have found insufficient evidence against former Cape Coral Mayor Marni Sawicki proving she broke the law.
The investigation against Sawicki stems from 2016 claims of wrongdoing by then Councilman Richard Leon. Leon said Sawicki may have taken gifts from a local business and failed to disclose them.
The FDLE was unable to find evidence of criminal activity on Sawicki's behalf.
The Florida Ethics Commission cleared Sawicki earlier in March.
