CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man for calling 911 and misusing it.
The Sheriff’s Office said Michael James Gables called 911, and when deputies arrived, he requested they take the twenty-dollar bill he had on the couch and buy him liquor.
Gables made another call to 911 this time; it was a request to get him ice cream from his freezer because he could not get out of the recliner.
Deputies determined Gables did not need medical attention and was not in any distress.
He was arrested for the misuse of the 911 system.
The Sheriffs Office wants to remind the public emergencies are situations that pose an immediate risk to health, life, property or environment.
