BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. -- The first medical marijuana dispensary in Bonita Springs has gotten approval to open its doors to patients.
It's Curaleaf's second location in Southwest Florida and Fox 4 In Your Corner got an exclusive look before the grand opening next week.
“We are finally getting medicine to the people, the patients that need it, ” said Nancy Moss, Patient.
Nancy Moss uses medical marijuana to help relieve her chronic pain and insomnia.
Moss says, “For me I am totally free of any pain medicine, any sleeping medicine and have been for two years.”
“You have numerous patients, who have begged for these locations and that’s one of the reasons why we are here today, because they can’t get it in their own county,” said Michelle Terrell, Director of Sales, Curaleaf Florida.
Collier County currently has a moratorium on dispensaries.
Curaleaf's new location is one of three to be opening this year in Bonita Springs.
“It’s much like walking into a Walgreens or CVS, like you are picking up your vitamins or GNC a vitamin shop, you’re walking in and you can see by the products it’s tamper proofed, sealed,” said Terrell.
The dispensary offers medical marijuana pills, vape pens, lotions, and oils.
To purchase product you need a prescription given by a physician registered through the Office of Medical Marijuana Use. Prescriptions are good for seven months.
Florida's Department of Health oversees dispensaries and the product is closely tracked.
“If people are curious, or cannabis curious, as we say, we invite them to come in, meet any of the staff, we have consultation rooms,” said Terrell.
Curaleaf's grand opening is Thursday, January 17th from 3-7pm. It's located at 11721 Bonita Beach Blvd.
