Fire at Fort Myers business sends firefighter to hospital, causes backups on MLK Boulevard

UPDATE (1:50 PM) -- A city spokesperson says the firefighter has been released from the hospital after being treated for smoke inhalation.

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A fire at a commercial business on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard sent a firefighter to the hospital and is causing delays for westbound drivers in Fort Myers.

The Fort Myers Fire Department said one of its firefighters had to be transported to the hospital with minor smoke inhalation.

The fire originated at a mobile home attached to Alligator Towing, just west of Ortiz Avenue.

According to Fort Myers Police, drivers headed westbound on MLK Boulevard should find an alternate route if possible.
