IMMOKALEE, Fla. -- Troopers spent Friday morning working with the community to increase safety among pedestrians in Southwest Florida.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, it was all a part of Operation P.E.D.S. (Pedestrian Education and Developing Safety).
Troopers spent two hours along Main Street in Immokalee, where they handed out educational flyers, highly visible pedestrian reflective vest, sunglasses, flash lights and other safety material to those in need.
The purpose of this detail was to decrease the amount of injuries and deaths through a highly-concentrated education detail in an area prone to pedestrian and bicyclist involved crashes.
