FORT MYERS, Fla. — Fort Myers Police Dept. said Juan Chach allegedly killed his roommate Carlos Acosta on Karlov St. Sunday. FMPD arrested and booked Chach into Lee County Jail Monday.
Alex Rivera’s mother babysat Chach’s 5-year-old daughter Ana. He said Chach came to the U.S. with Ana and her mother from Guatemala illegally. They said Chach’s mom was deported, and after Chach’s arrest, police put Ana into the custody of The Florida Department of Children and Families.
He said he was shocked to hear about Chach’s murder charge.
“He was a great father. That little girl did not need nothing,” he said.
He said he remembers Ana’s tight bond with her father. His mom Maria Arriaga said she misses Ana dearly. She described her Tuesday.
“A sweetheart. A sweet little girl. Very happy. She got along with everybody,” she said.
A judge did not set a bond amount for Chach in court Tuesday morning.
FMPD said they’re still investigating the homicide. Chach’s arraignment is scheduled for July 22nd.
