The group Southwest Florida Justice 4 All held a rally protesting President Trump’s decision to side step congress to secure funding for a border wall.
Nina Iraggi and dozens of others braved the heat and traffic to protest President Donald Trump's decision to declare a national emergency, so he can side step congress and allot money for a border wall with Mexico.
"I try to come to all of them, ever since President Trump was elected.”
Organizers began planning the rally at the Collier County courthouse over the weekend, after learning the president would go head with the funding.
"He actually made it clear, this is something that he just wanted to do, it's not an actual emergency, he knows he's going to be brought to court for it,” Barbara Gregory.
Local Republicans continue to stand behind President Trump’s decision to go it alone with the funding. They blame Democrats for not wanting to work with President Trump in the first place to build the wall.
"I think it's a shame that he has to go to those measures, because the Democrats will not give him anything that he wants,” said Collier County GOP Chair Russell Tuff.
Protesters say they’ll hold more rallies if they feel President Trump over steps his bounds.
