SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a Florida deputy has been suspended without pay for two days and removed from his agency's SWAT team afterguns and other equipment were stolen from his unlocked patrol vehicle.

Sarasota County Sheriff's Office reports show that Detective Brian Keane was issued the 16-hour suspension on Monday.

An administrative investigation found that Keane had failed to lock his patrol vehicle and stored agency firearms in his vehicle's passenger compartment - both violations of general orders - after returning to his North Port home early last month. Stolen items included a sniper rifle, pistol, night vision scope, medical bag, body armor and stun gun.

Two teens were eventually arrested and charged in the theft. All items except the stun gun were recovered.
