FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A Fort Myers daycare was reopened, Monday, after a worker was arrested for leaving children inside unsupervised over the weekend.

21-year-old Keajeah Tyre was arrested on Saturday after she allegedly left her post at the Royal Crown Academy off Colonial Boulevard, leaving four children inside unattended. A police report states Tyre said she needed to leave the school to go to a jail visitation, and needed someone to cover her.

Parents say they arrived and found their children alone. The owner of the facility, Jaimey Thomas, posted this statement on her personal Facebook, but has not made a statement on the daycare's website or official Facebook page.

"We apologize for the incident that took place on Saturday afternoon, where a staff member left some students unsupervised-leaving before the next scheduled staff arrived. Please be advised that your children's safety is our #1 CONCERN and we are in FULL COMPLIANCE for school operation on Monday morning. Thank you for your concerns and prayers while we deal with this matter. Royal Crown Academy Preschool Management & Staff!!!"

Thomas has surrendered her license for childcare. Tyre is charged with 4 counts of Child Neglect Without Great Bodily Harm.
