FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla — One person suffered non life threatening injuries after a jet ski crash Monday in Ft. Myers Beach.
The beach is still crowded with people visiting Southwest Florida on spring break. Some beach goers are worried that will contribute to more accidents.
“Luckily there is no texting out there like you see on the roads, but I mean carelessness, it’s almost like an entitlement to safety. These are the most dangerous crafts we’re going to be using," said Austin Gottron, whose visiting from Texas.
Gottron, who jet skis frequently says operators need to give each other at least 100 feet of space.
"Always stay to the right, don't ride the wake of other boats," said fellow jet ski enthusiast Zach Jolly.
An employee with another jet ski company not involved in the accident says 16 is the minimum age most companies permit customers to rent from them.
If you are going to use your own personal jet ski, you must have a license.
