Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating after a vehicle vs. bicyclist crash left one person dead in Arcadia.
The crash happened around 1:40 a.m. early Monday morning on SE State Road 70 near SE Townsend Avenue, just east of Arcadia.
Troopers have confirmed one fatality at the scene.
Right now all eastbound traffic is being directed into the westbound lanes to get around the crash.
**UPDATE (10:45AM)** -- Troopers have identified the victim as 61-year-old Lazaro Coopinger of Arcadia.
According to an FHP report, Coopinger was riding a 3-wheel bicycle eastbound on State Road 70 when the car approached from the rear and hit the bicycle.
Coopinger was transported to DeSoto Memorial, where he was pronounced dead due to his injuries.
No charges have been filed, and the case is still under investigation.
