COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — While driving westbound on Tamiami Trail, a deputy observed a vehicle changing lanes and turning off and, on its lights, frequently.

The deputy then got behind the vehicle to conduct a stop. The driver Zachary Ludwig, 32, pulls over and exits the vehicle.

Ludwing starts walking towards the deputy with his hand behind his back. At that time, the deputy drew his weapon and ordered Ludwig back to his vehicle.

Ludwig started yelling random things and then gets back into the driver's seat, closes the door, and speeds off.

The deputy is now in pursuit of the Ford Mustang that Ludwig is driving. The deputy observes Ludwig throw a brown object out of the driver's window.

Ludwig stops the vehicle, and the deputy orders him out of the car. The deputy called him to the ground, and Ludwig complied.

Ludwig kept yelling he was Muslim and other random words. The deputy was able to place Ludwig into handcuffs.

The deputy observed a strong smell of alcohol coming from Ludwig. The deputy then placed Ludwig into the back of the vehicle, at which time he became combative and began to kick and hit the rear car with his head and continued to scream random things.

In plain view of Ludwig's vehicle, the deputy could see a Busch Beer in the cupholder and another Busch Beer inside a Yeti cooler with a straw coming out of it.

Ludwig refused a breath test.

Ludwig was arrested and charged with Fleeing/Elude, Fail to Obey LEO and Stop, DUI-DUI Influence of Alcohol or Drugs, DUI-Refuse to Submit DUIT Test After License Suspended, Citation, DUI, Citation, Refuse to Submit to BAL Test, Citation-Possession of Open Container in Motor Vehicle.
