COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — A Collier County woman has been charged with Second Degree Murder.

In a press release, the State Attorney Office says the incident happened in 2016 when Serbu contacted an 18-year-old offering him an away to make easy money.

However, Serbu, along with her brother, confronted the 18-year-old with allegations about her daughter.

The victim ran and was chased by Serbu and her brother.

A struggle over the gun ensued, the gun discharged, and Serbu’s brother John Vargas was shot.

John Vargas died as a result.

Serbu was able to subdue the victim, then shot and killed him.

Serbu will have sentencing on January 3rd 2020 and faces life in prison.
