Cold weather shelter to open in Charlotte County

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- With temperatures approaching freezing in the forecast this week, those needing shelter from the cold will have a place to go in Port Charlotte.

According to Charlotte County Emergency Management, The Homeless Coalition will be available to provide cold weather shelter from 6:30pm to 8am on Wednesday night.

The shelter is located at 1476 Kenesaw Street in Port Charlotte.

The American Red Cross will be supporting the shelter with cots and blankets.
