FORT MYERS, Fla. --- The Fort Myers City Council have appointed a new councilman to fill the remaining term of Ward 4 council member Micheal Flanders.
Dr. Liston "Lin" Bochette III will take over for Flanders, who recently became president and CEO of the Edison and Ford Winter Estates. Councilman Flanders will leave his council position on May 15th.
"I look forward to working with the Mayor, city council members and staff using a steady hand and calm outlook to meet the needs of the City and Ward 4 residents," said Dr. Bochette.
There were eight candidates who applied to fill the vacant position before council members selected Dr. Bochette. Bochette, a Fort Myers native and five-time Olympian, holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy with an Ed. ABD in Education.
The Ward 4 City Council seat will go on the general election ballot in November. In his presentation to city council, Dr. Bochette indicated that he will not run for the council seat in the general election.
