CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- There's a new idea in Cape Coral to keep children safe at school bus stops.
The City of Cape Coral is asking homeowners to consider adjusting where their sprinklers spray.
This is so students can stand far enough away from the street without getting wet while they wait for the bus.
The move can be temporary. School ends May 30th.
There have been recent efforts to improve student safety at school bus stops ever since 8-year-old Layla Aiken was hit and killed at a school bus stop by a hit and run driver in March.
