LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — Someone broke into a window after Renovation Churches Sunday evening service and didn't leave a trace. Members think they stole the entire window pane to avoid leaving fingerprints behind.
A window was covered by a mattress that’s how Judy Stewart and Renovation Church members found it when they came here for prayer Monday morning.
Someone stole two guitars from the smaller renovation building where Spanish speaking members worship.
first, my heart hurt for them because they were gifted and blessed with some guitars. and then someone decided to go ahead and take them. it affects us as well because they are our family.
Stewart spent Tuesday night leading a bible study.
She has been praying for the members of her church. She says this was a bizarre break-in and slim chances it was a coincidence that the window is right in front of the church's band equipment.
There were other items in the sanctuary, but they didn't touch them. Other items like this drum set and a keyboard, making the guitars easy to maneuver.
And she thinks whoever broke in was small enough to fit through that tiny window themselves because they didn't notice forced entry anywhere else in the church. Even though their church band is down two guitars, Stewart has faith they’ll be restored.
They’re not sure how much the guitars were worth, but they were newer and donated to the church. And when police find whoever is responsible for this, the church plans to press charges.
