CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. --- The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office will start citing people for sexting.
The sexting statue was instituted by the State of Florida (FSS 847.0141), but had no method created to document a first offense at the Clerk of Courts. Which left each jurisdiction to implement their own methods.
Juvenile sexting citation comes with the following three options:
- Minors pay a fine
- Take a class
- Complete community service hours
The first offense will result in a citation from officials, the second offense is a misdemeanor and the third offense will be considered a felony.
