CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- The Charlotte County government released a new video in the style of Road Runner vs. Coyote to let residents know how serious they are about mosquito control.

In the 2-minute video, Mosquito Control Director Scott Schermerhorn transformed into 'Mosquito Man', whose focus is educating residents about the "Dress, Drain, Defend" campaign.

The video was released Tuesday on the county's Facebook and YouTube pages.

"We spray for mosquitoes from helicopters, boats, trucks, and tanks mounted on staff members,” said Schermerhorn. “We deploy sentinel chickens to detect mosquito-borne viruses early. We have reporting systems that let residents tell us where mosquitoes are multiplying and show where we are spraying on any given day.”

Residents can report mosquito outbreaks and view spraying schedules on the county website, CharlotteCountyFL.gov. Click Mosquito Control on the Living page.
