PORT CHARLOTTE, FLA — Near the hustle and bustle of Kings highway and Westchester Boulevard in Port Charlotte is a patch of land you might otherwise ignore.

But for the second day in a row, that wooded area has the full attention of the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office.

A woman's body was found there on Thursday.

John Angle says he's part of group who lives in that wooded area in tents.

"They just got cops running all over the trails back there, going everywhere, looking everywhere," he said.

Angle said he was shocked to see deputies and EMS in his neck of the woods.

"I hear all kinds of commotion, cops everywhere, EMTs are out there. I popped my head out of my tent and the EMTs asked me 'You've seen a body around here?'. I said 'No!", he said.

But on Friday, Angle says he's worried that the woman they carried away could be a friend he last saw more than a week ago.

"It wasn't but five minutes later they found Suzanne's body. I'm assuming it was Suzanne because she's the only one who would be back there right now," he said.

The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office has not identified the woman yet, and they say it may take some time to do that because of the state her of which her body was discovered.

At this time, they are calling her death "suspicious".

While investigators work, John says he'll be thinking of his friend and sleeping somewhere else.

"I stopped there earlier and asked them about getting some of my stuff, and all that and they said I can't go back there yet," Angle said.
