Captiva drowning victim identified

CAPTIVA, Fla. — The Lee County Sheriffs Office responded to a call in the are of Upper Captiva in reference to a possible drowning on July 25th.

A witness stated he saw a person in the water that did not seem to be moving. They observed the swimmer’s feet above the water.

The witness grabbed an inflatable raft and swam to get the victim and bring him back to shore.

Life-saving efforts were performed on the victim.

Captiva Fire took over and continued live-saving efforts, sadly the victim did not survive.

The victim was identified as 40-year-old, Andrae Sailes.

The Lee County Major Crimes Unit took over the case and continued the investigation.
