CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Imagine having no sink, no countertops and not even a dishwasher to use in your kitchen. That’s what one Cape Coral woman has been dealing with for days.

Linda Devenport said a local contractor left her kitchen unfinished and in shambles and won’t answer her phone calls.

“I can’t open my dishwasher. It falls forward so I’ve had to do my dishes in my bathtub,” said Devenport.

Devenport is left in limbo with a hole in the middle of her kitchen.

“I would love to do dishes right now and fix my dinner and as you can see, I can’t do anything,” said Devenport.

She said she hired Empire Stones Solutions in Fort Myers to put in all new counter tops and a new sink in her kitchen. She even paid them 50% of the total cost upfront but she said they only did half the job.

“I just don’t know how someone is supposed to live like this, it’s been close to two weeks now,” said Devenport.

She said they were supposed to come Tuesday morning between 9 and 10AM to install the rest because the measurements were wrong the first time, but she said they were a no show.

“I cannot reach them I know, I’ve called fifteen times,” said Devenport.

Fox 4 went ahead and called the company but we got no response either so we went to the business about Linda’s situation.

After confronting them, they sent a team over to her house to install the rest of her kitchen.

“I never expected to go through this, or I would have never hired this company,” said Devenport.

A company employee at Empire Stones said the person who was originally in charge of the project suddenly no longer works there so it delayed things. Linda said that’s no excuse.

She’s now happy her kitchen is finished but said she will not hire Empire Stones in the future.
