Cape Coral resident, Kim Koenigs, paints old furniture for ill children around the community. Sometimes the task is especially difficult because Kim battles her own medical issues. She tells FOX 4 that she's had major neurological issues and underwent brain surgery in January 2017.

Kim told FOX 4 that she paints for a few reasons two being "for the sake of the kids and because it's therapeutic." Koenigs started painting dressers last year and has been improving ever since. Her specialty is animated characters like Spiderman, The Hulk, and Batman.

The artist personalizes every dresser for each child. By using a different superhero depending on what the kid requests. Recently, Kim started painting a name on the top of the dresser to customize it even more.

Some dressers are for sale, but most of the time, Kim doesn't charge families for her creations.

Last week, she finished a dresser that was decorated with Flash, a Marvel character, for a six-year-old boy who's currently battling leukemia and will undergo a bone marrow transplant next week.

Kim also collects coupons in her spare time. This allows her to help families with food, clothing, and other essentials.
