CAPE CORAL, Fla. — The Cape Coral Fire Department held a grand opening of the rebuild of Fire Station 2, located at 521 Nicholas Pkwy. East, on Dec 14. The project began in 2016, and construction was completed on time and under its $4,515,656 budget.

New Fire Station 2 will house a three-person fire engine that provides fire suppression and Advanced Life Support (ALS) services and a two-person rescue truck that provides Basic Life Support (BLS) services. The station is 10,559 square feet, and the construction site is 3.2 acres.

“Fire Station 2 was built to be incredibly cost effective and functional; from the lights, floors, countertops, and even the color of the building and roof. The station was designed to reduce energy costs and meet future needs for the next 50 plus years,” says Fire Chief Ryan W. Lamb, “It is also built to withstand a Category 5 hurricane and will serve as a first responder base during such events.”

The new station replaces current Fire Station 2, located at 701 Nicholas Pkwy., which was built in 1974 and no longer met current hurricane codes.
