Almost 20 people from Southwest Florida are stuck in Haiti during the nation's political unrest.

The group from Cape Christian Fellowship was on a mission trip. Right now, Haitians are protesting a drastic increase in gas prices and have been demonstrating in the streets.

According to a Facebook post, 17 church members are on that mission trip. In that group, there are 10 adults, and 7 high schoolers. They were supposed to return home Saturday, July 7, but rising fuel costs and canceled flights have delayed their trip.

The church Facebook page says the group is safe, and should return home this week. The group is staying at Mission of Hope in Port Au Prince, Haiti.
