A Cape Coral brewery won big at the Best Florida Beer Competition in Tampa over the weekend.
Out of 816 entries, Big Blue Brewing in Cape Coral won multiple awards, including the 2018 Best Beer award and the 2018 Best Brew Pub award.
"It's a fine line between science and art, I would say," Head Brewer Alexander Sarames said.
Big Blue Brewing took home the gold medal for American Cream Ale for their "Lightest Thing You Got" brew.
"Nothing too dark, nothing too hoppy. Just something nice, crisp, easy, light, and refreshing," Sarames said. "When somebody comes in who normally drinks Miller Lite or what not sits down at the bar and says to the bar tender 'Hey, what's the lightest thing you got?' Here you go."
Big Blue Brewing also took home silver for their Honey Brown "Let it Be."
"It feels amazing. It was quite a surprise," Sarames said.
Their "Lightest Thing You Got" takes 9 days to produce from start to finish.
Big Blue Brewing will be having a big celebration Saturday with $3 pints on their two winning brews.
