A group of thieves were caught on camera stealing a volunteer's purse at an American Legion Post in Lehigh Acres.
Post 323 sees a lot of foot traffic between the veterans, their families, and the community that stop by to enjoy a hot meal. But now, the post wants to know the identities of purse snatchers. Surveillance cameras snapped images when they took a volunteer's purse while she served dinner.
"It was shocking and hurtful," said Moore.
The post sent the images and video to the Lee County Sheriff's Office. Then, they shared the images on Facebook. They want the community to identify the thieves.
"It's to get someone's belongings that have meaning to them," said Moore. "There's memories and moments that don't mean anything to anyone but the one who they took it from," she added.
Moore says the members of the post are an extended family.
"We are very comfortable. We are always here together," said Moore. "There's so many of us that are here most of the time. We all know each other. We've been a family for years," she added.
They hope the purse snatchers can be brought to justice.
"They should bring the possessions back. They don't belong to you," said Moore.
