FORT MYERS, Fla. – It’s the busiest travel time of the year. On Friday alone, between 2 and 3 million people are expected to fly to see family and friends for the holidays.
Southwest Florida International Airport officials said it will be busy over the holidays so get to the airport early.
Over the next two weeks, about 46 million people are expected to fly this holiday season, which is more than 5% from last year.
People will be traveling between Dec. 20 and January 6.
The busiest travel days are expected to be Thursday (Dec. 20), Friday (Dec. 21) and Wednesday (Dec. 26).
The lightest days to travel are Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
RSW officials said to arrive at least two hours before your flight.
They said this time of year, there is always a chance weather can affect your flight so make sure you check your flight status.
