Longer lines and crowded parking lots greeted passengers at Southwest Florida International Airport the day before Thanksgiving.

Flight delays Wednesday ranged from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

“Probably going to get in around 12:30 ish," said Tabitha Tobon, whose evening flight to Newark was delayed.

New screening rules enacted by the Transportation Security Administration require passengers to take large items, such as laptops out of their bags and place them in separate bins.

Arriving passenger Tamara Silvia of Boston says lines were very long through security at Boston Logan International Airport.

"As soon as I turned around the people behind me, it was loaded, they had everyone taking their shoes off, they were checking everything, everyone had water they were walking down the aisle making them get rid of things before they got into the line."

Most flights scheduled for Thursday are on time so far.

Passenger traffic at RSW is up 2.4% from the same time last year according to airport officials.
