BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. -- Lee County deputies say they are investigating a homicide after a domestic dispute in Bonita Springs.
It happened just after 7pm Thursday at the Monterra at Bonita Springs apartment complex on Dovewood Court off Bonita Beach Road.
That's when someone called 911 asking for medical assistance. Responding crews arrived to find a woman, 42-year-old Ghelin Yadav, dead inside the apartment.
According to a Lee County Sheriff's Office report, 51-year-old Virender Yadav was taken into custody and charged with killing his wife after admitting he strangulated her to death.
Virender says that 4 days earlier, he found sexual text messages being sent to his wife from an unknown man. Virender confronted Ghelin about them, and she admitted to him that she has thought about leaving him, but needed time to think about it.
On Thursday, the couple continued to argue about the situation and Ghelin told Virender that she was leaving him just before the strangulation occurred.
Once in custody after the incident, Virender confessed to investigators that he intentionally and knowingly strangulated his wife.
He was transported to the Lee County Jail without incident and booked for Homicide.
