The Hazeldon Betty Ford Foundation specializes ion helping individuals who are suffering from addiction. The Hazeldon Betty Ford facility in Naples is one of many across the country that hosts the "Caring Families" program. The program aims to provide support to families of people who are addicted to substances.

Dan Simmons is s family counselor who helps facilitate the weekly group. For the past few months he's taken the program in Naples and begun holding meetings in Fort Myers for families living in Lee County. Simmons has been helping hold the "caring Families" meeting at Golisano Children's Hospital in Fort Myers.

When Four In Your Corner spoke with Simmons, he said one of the biggest challenges he faces with the families he works with is helping them understand how complex of a disease addiction is.

"We want to give people hope", he told Fox 4 early Saturday

"We don't want to give people expectations of what's gonna happen., but we want to offer hope."

The "Caring Families" program meets every Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida.
