A national department chain is facing controversy after reports that they have banned a popular charity from in front of their stores -- a charge the company has denied in social media.

According to a report by Fox News Radio host Todd Starnes posted Saturday, Belk department stores have banned the Salvation Army bell ringers from setting up in front of their stores, due to a change in Belk’s “social consciousness.”

However, a Facebook post on Belk's page Saturday night states that the Salvation Army is welcomes at all of their stores.

Donations in the Salvation Army kettles goes to operate Christmas programs for children. The organization also says the funds operate a campaign that helps run shelters and addiction programs.
