CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- The first autonomous school bus in the world will make its debut in Southwest Florida.
Babcock Ranch, along with Trans-Dev Transportation, created the 12-passenger electric bus.
Right now it can go up to 8 miles an hour, but Trans-Dev says it will eventually go up to 30.
The bus also brakes automatically when danger is detected. A safety attendant will be onboard at all times while students are riding.
A spokesperson with Trans-Dev says they've already began testing and will launch the bus later this month
