PUNTA GORDA, Fla. -- Charlotte County deputies want to remind you that starting January 1st, 2019, they will begin enforcing an ordinance to protect you at the pump.
Back in September, commissioners voted to approve a gas skimmer ordinance requiring locks for each pump.
Gas stations will face a $250 fine per day if they don't comply.
The county says this decision is based on an increase in card skimmers at local gas stations.
There are other similar ordinances throughout Southwest Florida.
