FORT MYERS, Fla., -- Courtney Stevenson has watched animal activists protests alleged animal abuse in four slaughterhouses on Eastwood Acres week in and week out. Now, she says it's empowered her to make a lifestyle change that begins in her kitchen.
“It just ignited a fire inside of me where I felt like I had to do something," said Stevenson.
Stevenson decided to throw out all meat and become completely vegetarian after the Animal Recovery Mission (A.R.M) released undercover video of alleged animal cruelty.
“I can’t stand watching those videos. I watch them because I have to be a voice for them, I owe [the animals] that.”
Stevenson now depends on weekly delivered packages from Hello Fresh to give her a new start in being a vegetarian. She says she'll be joining the next protest this Saturday in a fight she says is never ending.
“We’re going to get these slaughterhouse shut down," she said. "Weeks, months, years… I mean whatever it takes.”
Lee County prosecutors made an arrest pertaining to the slaughterhouse. For all information on the next protests visit the group'sFacebook page.
