LEE COUNTY, Fla.-- It's time to start thinking about your finances because it's America Saves Week.

Local financial professional, James Gallagher, of Waterstone Financial says that back in the day, we had pensions and people stayed at one firm for a long time.

In the working environment today, pensions are almost non-existent and many workers have barely started a retirement plan.

60% of working Americans have less than $1,000 saved; this is a future security issue for the country.

Gallagher says you should pay yourself 10% first, and try to save what you can. He also suggests getting a savings plan at work. If your work doesn't have one, then set aside money from your account every month.

Gallagher says he helps people of all ages get their finances ready for the future.
