CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- Starting Thursday, travelers in Southwest Florida have a new way to get to upstate New York.
Allegiant has launched nonstop flights from Albany International Airport to Punta Gorda Airport.
The year-round route will operate twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays, and the airline says they expect nearly 34,000 people a year will use the route.
"We’re pleased Allegiant is offering southwest Florida residents the convenience of year-round, low-cost airfares to Albany, New York,” said Punta Gorda Airport CEO James Parish. “This is also a great opportunity to connect New Englanders from western Massachusetts to our year-round sunny weather and natural attractions.”
To celebrate, the airline is offering fares as low as $62 each way when a round trip ticket is purchased. The deal is available until December 15th for travel between January 15, 2019 and March 6, 2019.
