LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- If you plan on filling up your gas tank anytime soon, there’s good news! According to AAA, gas prices in Florida are nearing a summertime low.

AAA said on average, drivers in Florida have paid nearly 20 cents per gallon less than last summer.

If you have an empty tank, you can save about $3 in gas.

On Monday, the average gas price in Florida is about $2.40.

Right now, Charlotte, DeSoto and Lee counties are averaging about $2.35 which is just below the state average.

One of the cheapest places to get gas in Florida right now is in Punta Gorda.

Collier, Hendry and Glades counties are little higher than the average by about 5 to 10 cents.

Right now, Florida is top five in the nation for having the largest monthly and yearly gas price decrease.

Florida also ranks 14th in the country for lowest daily average price.

The highest price Florida had this summer was back in July for $2.70.

Yet, that was still lower than the highest price from last summer.
