LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- As the nation prepares to honor Patriot Day on September 11th, several events are planned around Southwest Florida to commemorate the tragic day.
In Golden Gate, a 9/11 service will be held at 9:30am at the Golden Gate Government Complex at 4715 Golden Gate Parkway. The event is sponsored by Golden Gate Civic Association, Collier County Sheriff's Office, Greater Naples Fire & Rescue, Legacy Options Cremation & Funeral Services, Golden Gate High School JROTC, Golden Gate Middle School Band, and Golden Gate VFW Post 7721.
In Bonita Springs, a Patriot Day Service is scheduled at 6pm. The service will be held at the Bonita Springs Fire Station Number 21, in front of the September 11th mural, located at 27490 Old 41 Road. Hosts and attendees will pay tribute to the valiant firefighters, police officers, emergency personnel and citizens who were involved in the September 11, 2001 attacks. The Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue District, Lee County Sheriff's Office, Veterans Advisory Committee and the City of Bonita Springs will unite to host the event. This Veterans Day service will include a very special guest speaker, David Grossi, Sr.
In North Port, a candlelight vigil will be held from 6pm-8:30p east of Station 81 on City Center Boulevard. The ceremony will honor all patriots, including Military, Fire, Police & EMS.
