12th Annual Unity Breakfast honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The 12th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity breakfast is taking place Monday, January 21.

It’s being held at 7:30 AM at the Sidney & Berne Davis Arts Center located at 2301 First St. in Fort. Myers.

The Fort Myers chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity is hosting the event. Dr. King is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

They are honoring Dr. King all while recognizing some community leaders who support his vision.

They will be noticed for their contributions in building a better community with the 2019 "Guardian of the Dream" award.

The SWFL Alpha Educational & Leadership Foundation, Mayor Randy Henderson and the City of Fort Myers also helped put the event together.

The purpose for the breakfast is to bring together diverse members of the community and serve as an example of “unity” as envisioned by Dr. King.

The breakfast will end at 10 AM and the Dr. King commemorative march will follow the breakfast. Transportation to the march site will be provided for attendees.
