LEE COUNTY, Fla. — . Carmine Marceno won the Lee County Sheriff’s race Tuesday night. He was appointed by then Governor Rick Scott in 2018. He says this election was special for him because the people voted him in this time. He also talked about how he’ll continue to lower Lee County’s crime rate.

“We’re going to keep using that greatest, latest and greatest technology. Working smarter, not harder,” he said. “Our numbers even now after six months look better than they did last time. And we were number one in the state for biggest decrease. So, we’re going to really do great things now.”

His opponent Michael Coach Ray Qualls also chimed in about the election results.

“I hope that Carmine Marceno lives up to the expectations that Lee County citizens have and doesn't disappoint them,” he said.

Coach Ray also said even though he lost, he’s glad he tried and has no regrets.
