COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Fox4 is taking a closer look at an issue on Marco Island after someone ran over a Sea Turtle nest.
Pictures that were released to Fox 4 on Tuesday show that on Tigertail Lagoon at Sand Dollar Island and according to Audubon Western Everglades (AWE) a Sea Turtle nest was run over twice by a construction vehicle despite the caution tape surrounding it.
AWE also said the person responsible also appeared to have spilled oil on the beach and did not clean it up.
Officials with AWE said this is an issue that is impacting the habitat.
