CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- We have a warning before you fill up your tank.  Cape Coral Police are investigating a gas station skimmer found at a pump.  And Fox 4 is In Your Corner with how you can prevent yourself from becoming a victim.

The skimmer was found last week at a pump at DeBono's "Stop and Go" gas station on Santa Barbara Boulevard between Southwest 22st Street and 21st Street.

The card skimmer was found during an investigation by the Cape Coral Police Department and the Department of Agriculture.

They went to 37 different gas stations in Cape Coral, and this was the only skimmer found.   Police say that nobody’s personal information was taken.

But there is a way to protect yourself from getting scammed.  There's an app called “Card Skimmer” you can download it detects Bluetooth devices that are used to swipe your credit card information.

It's very easy to use; you hold your phone up to the card reader and push a button.  The app will let you know if it detects a card skimmer.

The app is only available on Android phones at this time.

Another way to protect yourself is to pay inside.
