HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. -- A second deceased Florida panther is heading to Gainesville for a necropsy after a vehicle collision.

Wildlife officials made the announcement Tuesday night that a one year old male panther was hit and killed by a car in Hendry County. It happened on Josie Billie Highway (C.R. 833) just north of the intersection with County Road 635 in Hendry County.

This news comes as officials found another panther Tuesday morning in Lee County.  Florida Fish and Wildlife says a three-or-four-year-old female was struck and killed on I-75, near mile marker 122.

19 panthers have now been killed this year in Florida.  All but two deaths were by vehicle collisions.
