Southwest Florida residents are concerned with loose debris flying through the air when hurricane Irma gets closer.
"I'm just worried for our neighborhood," said Lynette Brown, after noticing an overflowing construction container of debris at her neighbors house.
She and her neighbors tried calling the container company, and they said there wasn't a guaruntee they could remove the container before the storm.
"It's just one more thing on the plate that we shouldn't have to worry about," Brown said.
The city of Fort Myers says loose debris of any kind- yard waste, trash and recycling bins, etc., can be very dangerous during a hurricane.
A spokesperson in a statement said, "Debris can become a projectile in high winds and items left outside can can also clog the storm drain system and increase flooding risk."
The city is urging people to bring anything that is not secure outside, indoors. If not, secure items that are outside.
